COLLABORATING

I work with individuals and organizations to research, design, evaluate, and facilitate programs, projects, and plans.

Working with me

I will listen deeply.
I will respect your ideas and cheer them on.
I will pause.
I will take time away to reflect on your ideas.
I will come back and share what I’m hearing.
I will ask questions.
I will offer new ideas.

And then. . .
We will flow together into reflection and action.

Whether you are researching a project idea, designing a plan, evaluating an existing program, or facilitating a gathering experience; I am excited to connect, collaborate, and create with you in the following ways.

  • Research

    I research from different perspectives.

I research through reports, documents, stories, activities, and conversations from different perspectives.

I ask what is the context, gaps, needs, preferences, and current reality of different stakeholders and how that aligns with your values, goals, objectives, plans, and strategies.

  • Design

    I design by making connections.

I design through listening deeply, asking big picture questions, and making multiple connections.

I ask what new ideas I can offer to the design of the goals, objectives, outcomes, timelines, budget, and resources of your programs, projects, and plans.

  • Evaluate

I evaluate by listening with intention.

I evaluate through the use of surveys, interviews, focus groups, and data collection centring the well-being, freedom, and validation of all.

I ask what is the intention, the difference hoped for and made, resources and time planned and used, and impact on all.

  • Facilitate

I facilitate with agreements of care.

I facilitate through the invitation to collective care for the conversations, ideas, perspective that will be shared.

l ask how you personally connect to the topic that has brought us together and I support you to set up agreements of collective care for all.

Testimonials

  • "With both an artistic and arts management background, Geraldine brings together unique experiences and skills to apply creative solutions to help guide individuals and organizations through a process to tangible change. Having worked with her in a fast-paced arts organization environment, her ability to clearly identifying the tasks needed and appropriately map them out against a manageable timeline, the process of achieving success became a guide to inspired goals. A pleasure to work with!”

-Lisa Ramsey, Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC) Manager at Banff Centre.-

  • "Geraldine took my research and saw my vision. I was eager to create a program that would support newcomers in the arts profession, and at some point, I was exhausted. Geraldine took her time to study the information i had gathered and we co-designed a full 6 months mentorship and professional development program that gives newcomer arts professionals an entry point into their career in Canada."

-Toyin Oladele, Artist, Arts Manager, Arts / EDIA Consultant-

  • “Geraldine is intelligent, incisive, and passionate about learning and about supporting the learning of others. She is decidedly non-linear in her thinking, which allows her to both express and to entertain a wide variety of perspectives and to both offer and to integrate novel and original ways of thinking and learning. Her consummate curiosity, always expressed and pursued with the deepest of respect, equips her with the natural mindset of the researcher, seeking new knowledge with the intent of confirming its validity and in particular exploring the possible practical applications of any new insights gained. She engages in deep reflection in service of better understanding others and refining and expanding her own self-awareness.”

-Fred Jacques, Adjunct Associate Professor, Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary-

"Geraldine persistently advocates for the rights of marginalized communities, including Indigenous peoples and migrants. Her courage and commitment to being a voice for those who don’t have or haven’t found theirs makes her a true leader in this community and one of the most inspiring and supportive person I have ever met. A mentor who helped me settle as an immigrant and still helps me grow and develop in ways that I could not have imagined. What I appreciate most about Geraldine is her ability to listen and provide thoughtful feedback. She’s not one to judge or criticize, but always approach our conversations with an open mind and a desire to understand my perspective. She challenges me to think critically and encourages me to take risks and try new things. I always feel safe to share my concerns, doubts, and questions with her, and she never fails to provide insightful and practical advice. And thought provoking “whys” too. Geraldine leads by example. She is a role model in both her personal and professional life, and I learn so much just by observing her. She has a strong work ethic, always well-prepared, and an excellent communicator. Humble, approachable and always making time for others with grace. I am grateful for the impact Geraldine has on my career. She has helped me gain confidence in myself and my abilities, and gave me the tools and support I need to succeed. I hope to be able to pay forward the lessons I am learning from my mentor to others who may need guidance and encouragement along their own journeys.”

-Samuel Obadero, Photographer, Arts Consultant, and Community Builder-

  • “Geraldine is not just an art leader; she is many creative things wrapped in one. Her calmness and depth of knowledge within the creative industry combined with detailed attention to solving clients' issues makes her second to none. I have personally learned a lot from her and her passion for work brings on a new opportunity that old and emerging arts organizations can greatly benefit from. She is a natural-born leader who will use her experience to produce leaders.”

-Lanre Ajayi, Artistic & Creative Director, Ethnik Festivals-

  • "Geraldine represents that "oasis in the middle of the desert" in my quest to continue my career as a cultural manager. When immigrating to Canada, she was the first person who listened to me about what I could offer to Calgary and has always been by my side, showing interest in how I progressed in this art management career on this new horizon. Geraldine is someone you know you can count on, who will listen to your ideas or undertakings and give you valuable feedback to continue and not get lost along the way. Alberta is very lucky to have a cultural consultant like Geraldine, who is congruent between her beliefs and what she does. She is undoubtedly a precious leader for the community, and I want her to continue to be so, sharing her experience in community development and the unique essence of the great human being that she is."

-Lily Sigie, Actress & Arts Manager-

  • "Geraldine listens deeply and then generates surprising insights. Over several years, I have benefited from her ability to look at issues from multiple points of view, to integrate the perspectives of multiple stakeholders, and to set a path forward that was somehow invisible to all of us. Geraldine is the inverse of the "move fast and break stuff" mentality in too much consulting. She will help you both do the right thing and do the thing right".
